Cookout With the Cops Fitting End to Summer in Sauk Rapids

(KNSI) – The Sauk Rapids Police Department is kicking off a year of community outreach with its first Cookout With the Cops Wednesday.

Sauk Rapids Police Sergeant Brent Bukowski says it is a chance for the public to come and hang out. “We look forward to seeing everybody come out and talk with our officers. We’ll be there to answer any questions or if anybody wants to take in a friendly game of beanbags. Some of the officers will be willing to play a couple of games of beanbags down there.”

The new event runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lions Park next to the splash pad. Officers will be serving up hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks.

Bukowski says he hopes the cookout is just the beginning of a series of fun outings. “It’s our goal to have more community engagement activities as we get up to our allocated staff numbers to engage with our community. And this was a great idea with summer coming to an end is for us to kick it off at our brand new splash pad down on River Avenue.”

The cookout is free. The event is possible thanks to donations from Manea’s Meats and Dutch Maid Bakery.
